Our Varities

Ontañón is a winery deeply passionate about its vineyards and viticulture. We firmly believe that the true foundation of wine quality lies in the vineyard itself and in the rich varietal diversity it can express.

Our unique natural terroir allows us to champion Rioja’s indigenous and autochthonous grape families: high-altitude Tempranillo that delivers structure and elegance, bush-vine and vertically-trellised Garnachas (both tinta and other expressions), Graciano with its stunning natural acidity and aromatic lift, Viura that captures the deepest aromatic soul of our landscapes, and our most recent commitment — Tempranillo Blanco, a variety we had the privilege of witnessing (and contributing to) from its very emergence as an authorized Rioja grape.

We are also establishing new plantings of other minority Rioja varieties such as Maturana (tinta and blanca) and Garnacha Blanca, further enriching our palette of site-specific, heritage-focused expressions.
